 Suan Dusit Rajabhat University                

 

The former name of Rajabhat Institute Suan Dusit is Home Affairs Extraordinary Secondary School. It was the first home affairs school in Thailand under the Vocational Education Department of the Ministry of Education, first opened on may 17, 1934 at the palace of the Royal Princess Krome Luang Chumporn Khat Udomsak (presently the localtion of Rajamongkala Institute of Technology, Bangkok Commerce Campus). The objective of the school is to educate young ladies on home affairs in a 3 year curriculum. In 1945, the school was moved from Chankasem Palace to Suan Dusit Palace boundary on the area of 78.4 acres at no. 295 on Ratchasima Road, Dusit District, Bangkok 10300. By that time, the school was renamed as the Bangkok School of Home Affairs under supervision of the Teachers Practice division of the Common  Education Department.

        In 1961, the Ministry of Education upgraded the school to college and renamed it as Suan Dusit
Teachers College for high education curriculum and in 1974 it was first extended to Bachelor Degree  level in Education (primary education, major in social Education).

        In 1985, after amendment of the Teachers College Act (No.2) B.E. 2527 (1984), thecollege could open other courses besides teachers profession under the new of Suan Dusit Teachers college with the programs in Science and Arts. It also changed its type to co-education for first-time enrollment of male students.

        In 1992, it is the year of  auspice when H.M. the King kindly gave "Rajabhat" as the new name of the college.Later in 1995, the enactment of the Rajabhat Insitutes B.E. 2538 (1995) came into force as prescribed in the Royal Gazette, Decree Edittion, on the 24th January 1995. The college then turned to be a higher academy eith full honor and legal rights. This made changes in development and creation of Rajabhat Institutes in the role of higher education institutes for exact local developments.
The section of Academic Administration
Rajabhat Institute Suan Dusit  has 5 facilities for undergraduate studies and a graduate school for postgraduate studies. Each faculty is divided into subjects/programs composed instructors and personnel jointly working in accordance the Institute's tasks e.g., technical and higher vocational arrangement, researches, society sevices, improvement/relaying of khowledge and technology improvement, conservation of art and culture, promotion in teachers and personnel status of every branch necessary to economic and socaial development responding to community requirements. All are what the Institute realizes and fully performs as shown by outputs of faculties as follows:
Faculty of Education
* Oorganizing 7 programs in education instruction.
* The Special Study Center established the Asia and the pacific Center for Persons eith Disability in conjunction with related organization.
* Teaching & learning arrangement in a pilot school using participation development process at Suphanburi Kindergarten School.
* Selection and confer honorary certificate to example teacher in network schools where Institute sent its students for teaching practices.
* The Special Study Programs have performed on such matters for over  30 years. In addition, the Institute has cooperated with other government and private sectors in organizing seminar and training methodology, curriculum management and participation in joint development of 5 special study centers of Rajabhat United Institutes under the philosophy "Education developments disables  and disables development themselves and their society".
* Home economic operations e.g., training on art  handicraft of dry flowers, banana leaves, earthen leaves etc. International standardized professional sevices e.g.,  housework management for athlete's residence in the 13th Asia Games during December 6-20, 1998 at Thammasat University at Rangsit. Food sevice, accommodation and joint supply of voluntary boy  scouts in the World Scouts Jubilee to be held during December 8, 2002 - January 8, 2003 at Royal Thai Navy Base, Sattaheep, Chonburi Province.
Faculty of Science and Technology
* Organizing 14 programs in Science and Technology.
Faculty of Humanities and Sociology
* Organizing 7 study programs and other two subjects in gramatic arts and music.
Faculty of Management Science
* Organizing teaching and learning for 4 programs.
Faculty of Arts and Design
* Organizng a Fine Arts program and other 2 branches in Guidance arts Design and Applied Arts.
Graduate School
* Organizig a course in International Executive MBA in cooperation with the University of Victoria, Canada.
* Organizing the course in Master of Education (Education Management) and the course in Master of Business Administration (Business Administration), and an on-going course in Master of Public Administration (Public Administration).
Establishment of Off-Campus Learning Centers
        The Off-Campus Learning Centers give  Centers give chances in learning  on the basic of "the University without Wall" or  "You can learn where you are" This promotes the power of  land by developing the population without any constraints, joyful with intelligence, keen in professional aptitude and being good citizen of the society.
 


    Piboonsongkram Rajabhat University

        Piboonsongkram Rajabhat University, the co-host of this conference, is in Pitsanuloke Province, 377 Kilometers north of Bangkok with 40 minutes by plane-Thai International Airline - and  4 hours by car.
         Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University's histoty started in 1921. That year the government announced the Primary School Act that everyone had a chance to study .So there was a great demand
for  teachers. Phitsanuloke Region tried  to produce teachers by adding teaching courses at the Phitsanuloke Phittayakhom School M5 and M6 clases. The students who finished the course would be
teachers in government schools.
         1926 Phitsanuloke Region recived a budget from the "Ministry of  Education" and donationsfrom people in Phitsanuloke to build the regional teacher traning school at Chan Palace Area. His MajestyKing Rama the Seventh named the school  "Phitsanuwittayayon School" and went with Queen Rumpaipanni to the opening  ceremony on the  7 January 1926. However after the school had been moved to a new location, there was a fire. So the school was forced to closed.
         1933 the Ministry of Education opened a teacher traning program at the Phitsanuloke women's
school . The program offered many teaching dertificate courses. In 1943 the teacher traning program and Chalermkwan Satree School were separated to be the Phitsanuloke women teacher  training  school but was still in the same area. Since 1933 the women's teacher training school was affiliated with the special education departmaent.
         1        954 Ministry of Education established teacher training divisions so the Phitsanuloke womenteacher traing school was affiliated with a teacher training  committee and changed the courses to become an Education Certificate. In 1955 the government rebuilt Chalermkwan Satree School across the river former location.
         1 June  1956 "Women Teacher Training School" was separated from Chalermkwan Satree School to a new location at Wangchan Road on 23 June  1956 and it  changed its name to Pibulsongkram Teacher Training School. It offered co- education for boarding female students and day - time  male students . In 1961 the school was graduated to Pibulsongkram Teaching College. It  offered many courses such as higher education certificate, education certificate, part-time primary school teacher certificate and Bachelor of Education in Thai language teaching.
         1975 The government announced the Teaching College Act and foemed the teacher training council to give policy and manage all teaching college in Thailand. The college was organized in faculties,offices, and centres.
         1976 Education teaching council dissolved Education cerriculum and submitted two levels of education; Higher Education Certificate (HEC) and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed). The college didn't offer the courses for part time students but opened for HEC students to study from 5.00 - 7.00 PM during weekdays.
         1979 The college initiated an "on duty' teacher training projrct. It  offered both Education Certificate and Higher Education Certificate to working educators on weekends and canceled the evening classes.
         1981 The college recived 1000 rai of  land in "Thung Thalaykaew" to establish new campus from the office of the Prime Minister. The college used only 400 rai for the first project.
 1        984 There was a correction in the Teaching College Act to enable teaching colleges in Thailand to teach other Bachelor degrees, therefore Pibulsongkram established the community college at  "Thung Thalaykaew" to offer Professional Certificate courses.
         1987 The collge ended the "on duty" teacher training project  and started weekend education
projects for both junior degree and bachelor degree.
         14 February 1992 His Majesty the King give the name "Rajabhat" to all Teaching colleges.
Rajabhat Institute Pibulsongkram used the curriculum according to 1994 Rajabhat Act.
         15 June 2004 His Majesty the King approved the 2004 Rajabhat University Act. The Act was
published in "Phra Raja Kitchanubeksa" on 14 June 2004 . Therefore Rajabhat Institute Pibulsongkram
was inaugurated "Pibulsongkram Rajabhat University" on 15 June 2004.
